Moving down the cone, we encounter discussion groups, audio-visual materials, and demonstrations, all of which contribute to solidifying knowledge. Reading, watching videos, and listening to lectures fall in the middle of the cone, promoting moderate retention rates. Lastly, at the base, we have passive learning methods like attending lectures and reading textbooks, which are believed to yield the lowest retention rates. It is important to note that this model serves as a guideline rather than a rigid framework, as everyone's learning preferences and styles may differ. The Cone of Learning reminds us to incorporate interactive and engaging methods into our learning journeys to enhance knowledge absorption and long-term retention.
